Nathan Brown column: Giants have defied everyone who thought we’d fall

He is keen to start and, with the work he has put in, he has convinced himself he will start – and that has been the hurdle he has had to get over.

The recall of Lee Mossop by Wigan has robbed the Giants of a good young player, were you surprised by the impact he had in such a short stay?

Lee contributed plenty while he was with us and he will be welcomed back by myself and the players were he be able to return.

He came here and did a really good job for us and, at 20 years old, he hasn’t even touched the surface yet of becoming the great player he can be.

If he continues to work hard at his game, and the people around him put time into helping him develop, and given that experience will bring out even more in him you have to say that he has an awful lot going for him.

But Wigan coach Brian Noble has got some injury problems and unfortunately for us they have taken him back – but that just gives someone else the chance to play for us.

The Super League statistics show that the Giants currently have the best defensive record in the competition, that must be a big boost?

Baloo (Paul Anderson) is the defence coach so you can’t blame me, really you ought to be talking to Baloo about that one!

But seriously the boys are working very hard for each other.

Like every other team we have some errors that we need to address, but generally our players are covering each other and working hard for one another.

If you take your eye off the ball for a minute you can suffer, so we have to continue to work hard on the field and stay where we are defensively because it is an important part of winning games.
