The Galpharm Stadium chief answers the questions put by Examiner RL writer Chris Roberts.
Four Giants have been named in England’s 22-man squad for next Friday’s Origin Match against the Exiles. You must be delighted about that?
Yes, we’re obviously very pleased.
All four are there on merit and we’re delighted for them.
But, at the same time, we’re also a bit disappointed, too, because we’ve got some other blokes who are in really good form at the moment and can count themselves unlucky not to be in.
However, having Danny Brough, Eorl Crabtree, Leroy Cudjoe and Luke Robinson there is still an excellent achievement.
Let’s just hope all four now end up playing.
Are you hoping they will then be able to back-up for the Super League game at Wakefield two days later?
Whether they play will probably depend on how we come through our game against Castleford this weekend.
If we come through relatively unscathed, then it’s highly unlikely the England boys will play, because we should have the necessary cover.
That’s the beauty of having a good, strong squad.
If you have that luxury then you should be able to overcome the absence of several of your senior players.
The mood within the squad must again be pretty positive after the hard-fought victory over Hull FC?
Yes it is.
I’ve obviously made no secret of my disappointment at our goalline defence in the game.
That’s something that caused us some concern and, as you can imagine, that’s an area we’ve been focusing on in training this week.
But, as a whole, we’ve got to be fairly happy. We came to Hull and got what we wanted.
And there’s no doubt it was a good, tough game.
The opposition are a good side, with plenty of quality players.
Physically, they definitely bumped us around a bit and played some good, tough footy.
But from our point of view, we weren’t great but we hung in there and got the job done.
How grateful were you for the contributions of Danny Brough and David Hodgson on the day?
They were both good, weren’t they?
Danny clearly had a good game and got us into the right attacking positions, which was really pleasing.
And then Dave Hodge provided the outstanding finish.
A couple of tries showed his vast experience and ability to get over the line, and it’s not everyone in the game who could have scored those.
