THE break for the Challenge Cup semi-finals gave the Giants some breathing space, has it proved to be a boost?

We got some time off and some of the players got a little bit of a break, but we also had a fairly long list of people in rehab and it really has been a help to them.

It has also meant that we have been able to put in a pretty good week of training this week with quite a number of personnel back who have not been involved for quite a long while.

Having a number of players back in contention, is that a major boost or a bit of a selection headache?

Against Hull KR Andy Raleigh came back and put in a very strong display, as did Jacob Fairbank on his debut.

So you have guys like them who have put their case forward and then you have the likes of David Fa’alogo, Kevin Brown, Luke O’Donnell and Michael Lawrence returning.

On top of that we have a few other blokes who are in and around making the squad and that really is giving us plenty of options.

So really we are having to take a look at everyone and looking for them to make a claim.

But having Kev, Luke, David and Michael back gives me some room to move with the squad again, which is something we haven’t had for a while.

It is pleasing to have them back, but it is unfortunate that we have been missing them and on top of that having a bad run – we have been missing some very important players for some very important games.

But now they are all back, all keen and all fit and we have to now try and push and ensure that we get a good finish to the season.

And we have to expect our game to improve as we head towards the play-offs.”
