Huddersfield Town 3, Doncaster Rovers 1

His back-post header, three minutes before the break, brought the Galpharm faithful to their feet to celebrate a piece of history and was the sort of finish which has been the trademark of his distinguished career.

There were more fireworks at the start of the second half, with Booth and Schofield blocked in the box as Town attacked with flourish and flair.

Adams was involved again before Abbott's cross was cleared to Brandon to put the result beyond doubt on 55 minutes, and it was a shame Town didn't emphasise their dominance with more goals.

Still, they are up to eighth, playing some attractive football and showing the sort of form which, had it only surfaced a few weeks earlier, would surely have carried them into the top six.

It could still do, with a bit of help from other clubs.

Man of the Match: Jon Worthington

The driving force in Town's performance on a day when there were several players in the running to be man-of-the-match. Pity his shot on the break hit the bar; he deserved a goal.

Turning Point: WHILE Pawel Abbott got Town off to a fantastic strike with his 23rd goal of the season after just 59 seconds, it was Andy Booth's header three minutes before the break which really turned the game.
