Huddersfield Town 2, Hartlepool 1

How they rated:

Paul Rachubka Beaten by a screamer from Boyd and solid throughout. Saved well low to his left from Proctor second half Rating: 8/10

Andy Holdsworth Close to a man of the match performance, he supplied a great pass for Abbott's goal and raided forward really well Rating: 8/10

Danny Adams Linked well with the attack down the left and was close to teeing up Schofield for a second goal on 80 minutes Rating: 8/10

Tom Clarke Still only 17 and playing with the assurance of a veteran. Did his job very efficiently in a first start of the season Rating: 8/10

Nathan Clarke Quality passing from the back and made some well-timed challenges as well. Excellent, as usual Rating: 8/10

Michael Collins Worked hard in his first start of the season but couldn't find a finishing pass to complement some fine running Rating: 8/10

Jon Worthington Back in the side and had his best game of the season, tracking back well, winning the ball and using it well Rating: 8/10

Danny Schofield Scored a cracking second goal of the season and was a real menace to Hartlepool all game. Top performer Rating: 9/10

Chris Brandon Superb in the first half, when his tricks and running should have earned more goals for Town. Back to top form Rating: 8/10

Gary T-Fletcher Some tremendous runs and link-up play in his first start at the Galpharm. Unlucky not to get on scoresheet Rating: 8/10

Pawel Abbott Became the first Town man ever to score in the first six matches of a season. Ran his heart out into the bargain Rating: 8/10

Spotlight on the ref:

SCOTT MATHIESON had a very steady game with only three yellow cards handed out to keep a lid on any potential trouble. Wasn't tempted in any way to whistle for what looked a first-half handball in the box or when Pawel Abbott was upended in the area by Darren Williams on a late break. Solid display

Hartlepool: Konstantopoulos; Williams, Nelson, Collins, Robson; Daly (Bullock HT), Sweeney, Strachan (Boyd HT), Butler, Proctor, Humphreys (Llewellyn 76). Subs not used: Clark, Provett.
