Bradford City 1, Huddersfield Town 2

Carss should have scored from close range and Abbott missed a decent chance, but Booth eventually extracted maximum reward.

It was sweet revenge for last season and, if I'm not mistaken, the party is still going on!

Turning point:

TOWN'S second half of dominance looked like counting for nothing until Nathan Clarke produced an overhead kick after a Tony Carss free kick had been only partially cleared. Clarke's effort confused the home defence and, when keeper Russell Howarth failed to react, Andy Booth nodded in the winner. Great stuff

Man of the Match: Jon Worthington

THE driving force for the whole team, he ploughed fearlessly through some bone crunching tackles and never allowed Bradford to settle. He was the biggest influence on the pitch

How they rated:

Paul Rachubka Perhaps a yard out of position for Petta's free kick goal but otherwise very solid and calming influence on defence Rating: 8/10

Andy Holdsworth Close to a man of the match display after an early missed tackle on Claridge. Defending and attacking just excellent Rating: 8/10

Danny Adams At one point he took out five players with one challenge. Never let Muirhead become a major threat in game Rating: 8/10

David Mirfin His first match for nine weeks and yet he never looked like he had been away. Strong and effective throughout Rating: 8/10

Nathan Clarke His overhead kick created the winner for Andy Booth but he was sharp as a razor at the back as well. Superb Rating: 8/10

Tony Carss Played wide on the left and was very much involved. Put in some strong tackles and should have scored Rating: 8/10

Jon Worthington If ever a cut-and-thrust derby suited one man, this was it for Worthy. Took command of midfield. Impressive Rating: 9/10

Mark Hudson Scored his first goal for the club with a fortunate free kick and played well in helping Town control midfield. Took his chance Rating: 8/10

Chris Brandon Worked hard and used his pace well at times but, apart from one shot first half, never really threatened to score Rating: 7/10

Andy Booth Netted the winner, his 99th League goal in Town colours. Excellent at the back as well as up front. Excellent Rating: 8/10

Gary T-Fletcher Made one super run into the box to set up a chance for Carss. He worked tirelessly to link up play for the team Rating: 7/10

Spotlight on the ref:

LANCASHIRE official Tony Leake handled a full blooded derby excellently and deserves high praise. Even though there were some tough tackles flying in he let the play flow and didn't resort to the usual rash of cards, sensibly talking to players when necessary. Close to the play throughout and made very few mistakes.

Bradford City: Howarth; Edghill, Taylor, Wetherall, Bower; Muirhead (Emanuel 85), Crooks, Kearney (Schumacher 66), Petta; Claridge, Cooke (Cadamarteri 70). Subs not used: Holloway, Sanasy.
