Man of the Match: Jon Worthington
DESERVED his goal for a performance of all-out effort. He kept on driving Town on even when they were having a nightmare of a first half. He will be sorely missed when banned v Swindon
Turning Point:
A tale of two penalties. Had Pawel Abbott scored Town's five minutes into the second half it would have reduced the deficit to 3-1 and really put the cat among the pigeons. At the other end, David Mirfin appeared unlucky to be penalised for fouling Colin Larkin, but skipper Shane Nicholson showed how a penalty should be taken
How they rated:
Paul Rachubka Made a great early save from Niven but didn't command his box enough at times. Bad mix-up with Mirfin Rating: 4/10
Andy Holdsworth Poor in the first half, great in the second, he kept pushing forward and got a second career goal to create extra drama Rating: 6/10
Danny Adams Didn't do a lot wrong considering the team defended so badly in the first half. Had one tame shot wide Rating: 6/10
David Mirfin Hesitant when allowing the home side to score their killer third goal. Unlucky when conceding the penalty Rating: 4/10
Nathan Clarke Beaten to the ball by Wayne Allison for the first goal. Made a few solid tackles but not his best form by a long way Rating: 5/10
Tony Carss Despite one cracking cross for Booth, he found it difficult to get into the game as Town struggled in midfield Rating: 4/10
Jon Worthington Got his second goal of the season and a yellow card which means a ban. He was a credit in a battling personal show Rating: 7/10
Mark Hudson Great promise for the rest of the season with his running from deep onto Booth's flicks. Not far off a top mark Rating: 6/10
Danny Schofield Rattled by some quick early tackles, he never got the time or space to have a really positive influence on the game Rating: 4/10
Andy Booth Grafted hard all the way through in a tough duel with Blatherwick. Saw his best effort deflected straight to the keeper Rating: 6/10
Pawel Abbott Gave the ball away before Chesterfield's second goal and missed a vital penalty. Unlucky with two shots Rating: 4/10
Spotlight on the ref: PETER WALTON had a dreadful game. He was far too quick to blow on many occasions and he wasn't helped by his assistants, particularly Mr Matadar, who made some of the worst offside decisions I've seen for a long time.
Danny Schofield suffered in the first half when clean through and Chris Brandon in the second.
Chesterfield: Roche; Bailey, Nicholson, Blatherwick, Hazell; Hall (Clingan 88), Allott, Niven, Hurst (Smith 88); Allison, Larkin. Subs not used: Muggleton, Kovacs, Davies.
