Bradford City 0, Huddersfield Town 0

There were times, though, when Town seemed to want to walk the ball into the net instead of letting fly and other occasions when the final ball simply lacked quality.

When the message hit home in the second half and Danny Schofield unleashed what looked like a match-winning strike, the ball miraculously struck the covering Steve Schumacher and ballooned over the bar.

That's when you need a little bit of luck to tip the scales, but it wasn't to be.

While Town found Bradford's two banks of four hard to break down, they needed some resolute defending of their own from David Mirfin and the excellent Nathan Clarke to thwart the visitors' speedy and dangerous counter-attacks.

Danny Cadamarteri - preferred up front to the veteran Steve Claridge - had a brilliant run foiled by Paul Rachubka's smart block on 25 minutes.

Then, seven minutes later and with the 3,472 travelling fans on the edge of their seats, Cadamarteri left Andy Holdsworth and Jon Worthington trailing in his wake before a brave Rachubka dive put an end to the danger as he romped into the box.

Apart from those breaks, it was Town who had the bulk of possession in the first half, but a fantastic last-ditch tackle by Bower prevented Taylor-Fletcher making the most of Worthington's pass and then Mirfin found the side netting with a header which most in the Kilner Bank thought was in.
