Huddersfield Town 2, Notts Forest 1

ANDY MORRISON tapped me on the shoulder as he went for his half-time cuppa.

"We've got a system, Mel, and it's looking quite good," said the coach whose Worcester City team face Town in the FA Cup on Sunday.

"The only problem is, we'll need 14 players to cope with this lot!"

He was referring to the excellence of Town's imperious first half display, which put the skids under cynical Forest with memorable goals from Danny Schofield and Andy Booth.

As he left the ground at the end, however, Morrison smiled and quipped: "Maybe we'll just field nine or 10, we might be okay."

The comment reflected how Town - stung by Jack Lester's breakaway strike just 18 seconds after the re-start - found it less comfortable in the second half despite the dismissals of Forest's Ian Breckin and Lester in what became an ill-tempered affair.

Having said that, Forest managed only two efforts on target in the whole game while Town - with Mark Hudson and Chris Brandon back to spark midfield - could have wrapped it up in style with a little more composure at vital times.

They still finished the match joint top of the table and five points clear of the nearest challengers.

Town also now have the best home record in the three Coca-Cola divisions apart from Reading and Sheffield United, who are going head-to-head for the Championship title.

It's an impressive statistic and one which has to make Peter Jackson a hot contender for the November Manager of the Month award.

More importantly, it keeps Town powering along as they approach their televised trip to St George's Lane and two long-haul League adventures to MK Dons and Bristol City, who are both in the bottom six.
