Rachubka held a low volley from Burns as Barnsley briefly blossomed, but their insecurity was shown five minutes from time when, from an attacking throw-in, they desperately tried to waste time in the corner.
Rotherham did the same on Boxing Day and got punished and, thankfully, lightning struck twice as Town kept on powering forward.
It looked like their efforts might be in vain when Danny Schofield rifled a great chance over the top in the final moments, following an astute step-over from Worthington, but four minutes of added time gave Jackson's men renewed hope.
Even that time was running out when Rachubka launched one last free kick into the box, Booth challenged, Nathan Clarke shot and Taylor-Fletcher sent fans pouring down the stands in celebration.
A win would have been a more fitting reward, but Town found form through the efforts of tremendous Danny Adams, Ahmed and Booth and must take confidence from a brighter team display. This can be a turning point.
