Huddersfield Town 2, Bristol City 1
Aug 14 2006 By The Huddersfield Daily Examiner
Man of the Match: Just as he did against Rotherham to deny them a route back into the game when Town were two up, Matt Glennon athletically tipped a 52nd-minute shot against the bar to foil Phil Jevons, who had just put Bristol City in front. It was a downer for the West Country side but a lift for Town, who fought their way to a comeback win.
How They Rated
Matt Glennon Another confident performance between the posts capped by a fine save from the ever dangerous Phil Jevons. Rating: 7/10
Andy Holdsworth Facing the tricky Jamie McAllister, he was solid in the tackle and worked hard to get forward and support the midfield. Rating: 6/10
Danny Adams Did well to keep the experienced Scott Murray mainly shackled and got in some decent crosses. Rating: 6/10
David Mirfin Looked in control as he stood strong against the twin threat of the physical Steve Brooker and lively Phil Jevons. Rating: 7/10
Nathan Clarke Best display of the three games so far, with some clean tackling, good aerial work and improved distribution. Rating: 6/10
Gary T-Fletcher The man who hit the headlines with his milestone goal against Rotherham was rather quieter on Saturday. Rating: 6/10
Jon Worthington Responded well to criticism which followed Rotherham and drove his side forward. Won the crucial late corner. Rating: 7/10
Mark Hudson Like Clarke, produced his best display so far in a busy central midfield contest with David Noble and Cole Skuse. Rating: 6/10
Chris Brandon Tackled as fiercely as ever and buzzed down the flank but struggled to deliver that telling final ball. Rating: 6/10
Pawel Abbott Another industrious performance and another goal from a player who looks hungry to succeed. Rating: 7/10
Luke Beckett His goal showed why Peter Jackson was so keen to get him on board. Could have had a couple of others too. Rating: 6/10
Spotlight on the Ref: Berkshire's Paul Taylor had a good game and did well to defuse the 77th-minute skirmish which followed Peter Jackson's clash with City sub Lee Johnson by sending the Town boss to the stand and booking David Noble. Also cautioned two other Bristol boys, Craig Woodman and Louis Carey. Town got through without a yellow.
