Brentford 2, Hudersfield Town 2

Neither side managed a decent attempt on target in the first half, with the most notable event being a first caution of the season for Town skipper Jon Worthington, who after being shown 15 yellow cards last season, has done well to clean up his act without losing his midfield bite.

The 15th-minute booking was for a foul on Kuffour, who has followed Brentford boss Leroy Rosenior from Torquay, and always looked a threat to Town on Saturday.

Glancing headers by Beckett and headbanded Brentford centre-back Adam Griffiths failed to extend the respective keepers before, on 38 minutes, Griffiths did well to block as Worthington stretched to connect with a Schofield cross.

Then Glennon was fearless as he slid out at the feet of Kuffour in stoppage time (he had similarly denied Chris Moore early on).

Booth came on for the injured Gary Taylor-Fletcher after the break (Pawel Abbott dropped back to the right side of midfield), and with less than 60 seconds gone, headed wide from a Mark Hudson corner.

But then Brentford came to life, with Kuffour firing a square ball across the face of goal and Moore, with the follow-up, curling a shot worryingly close.

Midfielder Oli Skulason, fresh from a midweek outing for Iceland against Spain, wasted a close-range header from Kuffour's cross.
