Brentford should have been flying, but the wind was taken out of their sails when Schofield beat Nelson at his right-hand post after Booth's effort ricocheted off a defender.

Booth's neat back-heel set up Beckett for a shot which appeared to be deflected wide (a goal kick was given) before Brentford substitute Alex Rhodes hit the side-netting.

The busy Booth then headed clear from Brooker's inswinging corner before nodding down Nathan Clarke's long throw for Schofield to drill a low shot wide.

As play continued to swing from end to end, Rhodes volleyed over from fellow substitute Karleigh Osborne's deep cross.
