Huddersfield Town 1, Notts Forest 1
Aug 28 2006 By The Huddersfield Daily Examiner
How they rated:
Matt Glennon Didn't have a huge amount to do, but dealt with most of what came his way and couldn't be blamed for the goal. Rating: 7/10
Andy Holdsworth Solid all-round display. Played his part in repelling Forest's attacking efforts and got forward himself. Rating: 7/10
Danny Adams Had a great game. Tackled robustly, but fairly, and ensured Forest were never able to dwell on the ball. Rating: 8/10
David Mirfin No-nonsense display. Made crucial penalty-box challenges when Lester, then Grant Holt, were in the clear. Rating: 7/10
Nathan Clarke Stand-in-skipper looked calm and collected. Had some telling touches, both on the ground and in the air. Rating: 7/10
Gary T-Fletcher Beavered away all game and showed good reactions to nod home after Schofield's shot struck the woodwork. Rating: 7/10
Michael Collins Looks more than capable of filling the boots of injured skipper Jon Worthington. Only minus was a caution. Rating: 7/10
Mark Hudson Never shirked a tackle and teamed up well with Collins as Town made their presence felt in central midfield. Rating: 7/10
Danny Schofield Said beforehand that the early start wouldn't be a problem and was proved right. Best show of the season so far. Rating: 8/10
Andy Booth As ever, ensured the opposing centre-backs had to be on their game. Unlucky not to count with header. Rating: 7/10
Luke Beckett Foraged hard but didn't get much possession in the positions in which he is so dangerous. Finally taken off. Rating: 7/10
Turning point:
The 72nd-minute nod of Gary Taylor-Fletcher's head which brought his third goal of the season, 50th at senior level and a deserved Town equaliser. After being a shade unlucky to go behind in an even first half, Town dominated after the turnaround and put Forest under real pressure, with the midfielder finally bringing a reward.
Spotlight on the ref:
No complaints with the performance of Tyneside whistler Graham Laws, even if he did turn down Andy Booth's 15th-minute penalty appeal! Some questioned the free-kick which led to Forest's goal, but assistant Mark Heywood was on the spot and gave it straight away. Laws played advantage well and his cautions were reasonable enough.
Nottm Forest: Smith; Bennett, Cullip, Breckin, Bennett, Southall (Morgan, 73mins), Clingan (Harris, 76mins), Gary Holt, Perch; Lester (Thompson, 85mins), Grant Holt. Subs not used: Padula, Pederson. Cautions: Gary Holt, Perch.
