Huddersfield Town 0, Doncaster Rovers 0

HOW ironic that, as Town kept only a second clean sheet of the season, they failed to score for only the second time in their nine matches so far.

At least the perfomance was much improved on the League I losses at Crewe and Cheltenham, even if Peter Jackson's men failed to cement the victory their domination deserved.

Doncaster looked a decent side, and lacked nothing in terms of effort and commitment as they strove to provide new manager Sean O'Driscoll with a win in his first match at the helm.

But Town looked up for the task as well, and while goalkeeper Matt Glennon was hardly a spectator, they created the clearer-cut chances of a fairly frantic derby duel.

Six of them fell to midfielder Mark Hudson, who looked eager to make up for his nightmare late miss at Cheltenham but was unable to convert any of them.

As early as the second minute, he was unable to get clean connection to an Andy Booth nod-down which followed a neat passing move.

Then, on 12 minutes, he had a low drive blocked during a furious phase of Town attacking in which Pawel Abbott, handing a starting slot in place of Luke Beckett, had a shot hooked off the line by Rovers left-back Gareth Roberts before Gary Taylor-Fletcher drove across the face of an unguarded goal.
