Gary Taylor-Fletcher leaves goalkeeper Willy Gueret helpless in scoring his second against Swansea

CYMERIAD and cyfluniant. Those are the Welsh words for character and organisation, I'm informed.

And Town showed both, in any language, to carve out this welcome and morale-boosting win in way-off Abertawe (that's what the locals call Swansea!).

Gary Taylor-Fletcher grabbed the headlines by taking his season's goal tally to six with skilfully-taken efforts after 50 and 60 minutes.

But this three-point haul, which provided the perfect tonic ahead of tomorrow's tough follow-up trip to high-flying Tranmere, was really down to a top team effort.

Having done his homework on the hosts, Town boss Peter Jackson decided to go with a 4-5-1 formation, and a full week's work on the system in training paid off a treat.

Martin McIntosh, back from his loan spell at Grimsby, returned to the fold in style by taking the captain's armband from the injured Nathan Clarke, the player he replaced in the middle of the back four.

Andy Holdsworth, now recovered from shingles, played his first match in four, with Tom Clarke, who had been playing right-back, becoming the extra man in midfield.

Frontman Pawel Abbott was the player sacrificed, leaving Andy Booth the lone frontline forager.

Given the height of several of the Swansea side, it was clear why Jacko had gone for the six-foot aerial specialist, and the old campaigner didn't let him down.

Neither did any of the other 11 involved - Matty Young replaced goal hero Taylor-Fletcher after 70 minutes - as Town fulfilled their manager's promise of making up for the previous week's 3-2 setback at home to Yeovil.

There were a few nervy moments after the ever-dangerous Leon Knight pulled one back with nine minutes of normal time (plus the five which were added on) remaining, but Town held out for a deserved third win of the season, and first away.
