Home HTAFC Huddersfield Town Reports

Bradford City 0, Huddersfield Town FC 1

Turning Point:

It has to be Mark Hudson's well-taken second goal of the season after 25 minutes. Playing a 4-5-1 system successfully depends on taking chances when they come along, and the busy midfielder did that with aplomb. Town had started the match like they meant business and the strike gave them something tangible to defend.

How they rated:

Matt Glennon Fully deserved his third clean sheet for Town. Made some great saves, especially from Eddie Johnson late on. Rating: 8/10

Andy Holdsworth Did well against the tricky Lee Holmes at right-back before switching capably to the left after dismissal of Danny Adams. Rating: 8/10

Danny Adams Felt aggrieved by his red card (first caution certainly seemed harsh) and played key role for 72 minutes he was on. Rating: 8/10

Martin McIntosh Highly effective, both in defence and attack. Stayed impressively cool in high-pressure derby atmosphere. Rating: 9/10

Nathan Clarke Much, much better than in previous games. Stood firm with mate McIntosh against Windass and Graham. Rating: 8/10

Gary T-Fletcher Great cross for Mark Hudson's goal. Caused problems before being forced off on 50 minutes because of a knock. Rating: 8/10

Jon Worthington Appeared fully fit after injury. Made himself a key man for Town on his first start in 10 games by bossing the midfield. Rating: 8/10

Mark Hudson Well-taken headed goal put the gloss on a bright performance by player who seems to enjoy visiting Valley Parade! Rating: 8/10

Michael Collins His appetite was shown by his frustration at being subbed as Peter Jackson reshuffled after Adams' red card. Rating: 8/10

Matty Young Lively wide out and was deservedly able to celebrate his first entire league appearance with a victory. Rating: 8/10

Luke Beckett With Andy Booth injured, pitched into a lone frontman role which is not that natural, but did well. Rating: 8/10

Spotlight on the Ref:

Town might have won, but manager Peter Jackson was unimpressed with the performance of Keith Hill, of Hertfordshire, saying he "controlled the game poorly".

In a typically hurly-burly derby, he was quick to dish out the yellows (two in the first 11 minutes for Town), and that shown to Danny Adams, later sent off, certainly seemed harsh.

BRADFORD CITY: Ricketts, Doyle, Parker (Rogers, 80), Schumacher, Wetherall, Bower, Colbeck (E Johnson, 77), Bridge-Wilkinson, Windass, Graham, Holmes. Subs not used: Edghill, Clarke, Howarth. Cautions: Doyle, B-Wilkinson.
