DAVID UNSWORTH missed a last-gasp penalty as Town’s hopes of salvaging a point disappeared down the Old Kent Road.
Hertfordshire referee Keith Hill had earlier ignored three spot-kick claims – by holding by Chris Lucketti and handballs by Nathan Clarke and Millwall’s Andy Frampton.
But there was ho hesitation in the 89th minute as neat interplay between Ian Craney and Michael Flynn sent in Michael Collins, who tumbled under a challenge by Tony Craig.
There was uproar among home fans desperate to see their side force a first win in any competition this season.
But jeers turned to cheers as goalkeeper David Forde guessed correctly, diving to his right to smother Unsworth’s kick.
