Match report: Hartlepool 5 - 3 Town

Dickinson put pen to paper on a third month on loan from Derby before the game, and wasted little time in proving his worth.

Just eight minutes had elapsed when Michael Nelson was pulled up for holding Craney, and from the 25-yard free-kick, Dickinson beat both the wall and Arran Lee-Barrett with a low right-foot shot into the keeper’s bottom left-hand corner.

Wilson’s men were in no mood to roll over, however, and Kyle, on loan from Coventry, cracked a 15th-minute shot against Glennon’s left-hand post before equalising in the 26th minute, when his follow-up header after Glennon saved from Porter evaded Nathan Clarke’s desperate attempt at a goalline clearance.

Dickinson had a great chance to restore Town’s lead in the 32nd minute when he raced onto Craney’s pass, only to be robbed by the backtracking Nelson’s well-executed tackle.
