Six minutes later, Town were celebrating a second goal when Dickinson nodded on a Gary Roberts cross from the left and Craney tucked home his third Town goal with a neat right-foot volley.

The lead lasted less than 60 seconds as James Brown headed home from Porter’s cross from the right.

But in the 44th minute, Kyle’s foul on Butler gave Town another free-kick 25 yards out, and Dickinson repeated his earlier feat, with another right-foot shot this time flying into Lee-Barrett’s top left-hand corner, to take his Town goal tally to six.

The hard-working frontman came close to a hat trick in second-half stoppage time, when another free-kick struck the keeper’s left-hand post.
