Match report: Brighton 0 - 1 Town

Town needed to dig in, because there were spells in the first half where they either gave the ball away too easily or didn’t pass it quickly enough and caused themselves problems.

But when it came to putting bodies on the line and doing battle, Murphy’s men were not found wanting.

Defending purposefully from the front, Gary Roberts and Keigan Parker ran themselves into the ground, the midfield trio of Collins, Jon Worthington and the outstanding Ian Craney followed suit and the sweeper defence were in no mood to let slip only a fourth clean sheet of the campaign.

It would have been a pity had the penalty – a soft award by referee Steve Cook as Forster just about threw himself into Worthington – denied them that bonus, but Glennon was never in doubt.

“I’m 30 years old so I’m not going to let any penalty-taker give me the ‘eyes’ and put me off,” said the keeper.

“I have my own routine which I stick to and I’ve saved a lot of penalties over the years, so I knew exactly where Nicky Forster was going to shoot.

“It was a great feeling to keep it out because the clean sheet means everything. We’ve not had enough of those this season and it would have been hard not to get one this time, because we defended fantastically well as a team – kicking, heading, blocking; everything!
