Match report: Huddersfield Town 2 - 0 Hereford
Dec 22 2008 By Doug Thomson
LEE CLARK became the first Town manager since Ian Ross in 1992 to kick off his reign with a victory.
There’s little argument that his new charges deserved to chalk up a sixth win in seven League I outings.
But it wasn’t all plain-sailing against a battling Hereford side who belied their second-bottom standing.
The visitors never made it easy for a home team showing just one change from the 1-0 win at Southend – Keigan Parker, the striker back from a three-match suspension, coming in at the expense of Danny Cadamarteri.
They got men behind the ball when Town were going forward and created decent chances of their own both before and after Nathan Clarke’s 70th-minute opener.
It took a super second goal by Gary Roberts, who went clear at the top of the Town chart on seven with his 77th-minute effort, to allow Clark, his management team, and home fans in a 13,070 crowd to breathe easy.
