Match report: Huddersfield Town 1 - 1 Oldham Athletic

THANK goodness for Michael Collins!

The midfielder has developed a knack for netting crucial goals this campaign.

And he popped up with his fifth to salvage a deserved point for Town in a hard-fought, high-tempo derby.

Full credit to Oldham for a strong defensive effort marshalled by Sean Gregan, their man mountain of a centre-half.

And well done to Town for their persistence, which finally paid off in the 67th minute when Collins latched onto Keigan Parker’s pass to send a dipping shot over Greg Fleming.

There was lots to admire about the performance of Lee Clark’s side, who stuck like glue to their manager’s passing principles.

They were also solid at the back, and it took a wonder-strike by Mark Allott just six minutes in to get past them.

That gave John Sheridan’s fifth-placed side something to protect in what was Saturday’s sole surviving League I match.
