Match report: Huddersfield Town 1 - 1 Oldham Athletic
Jan 5 2009 by Dougie Thomson, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
Collins’ 21st-minute cross ran agonisingly across the face of goal with no Town player near, Jevons headed narrowly wide from yet another Cadamarteri cross on the half hour, then Parker’s close-range shot was well saved by Fleming in the 40th minute.
Oldham’s best spell came at the start of the second half, when the excellent Andy Butler produced a key challenge to thwart Lee Hughes and on-loan Doncaster striker Darren Byfield shot over before having an effort blocked by Clarke.
But Town came back into it, with Jevons off target with another header before cutting in and shooting just wide in the 63rd minute.
Two minutes later, Clarke was left unmarked to meet a Roberts corner.
But the centre-back couldn’t get his header on target and the grateful Gregan hoofed the ball clear.
Oldham were finally unlocked when Town counter-attacked.
Roberts passed to Parker, who controlled the ball neatly on halfway and ran forward 15 yards before supplying Collins, who timed his run perfectly and finished with aplomb.
The equaliser was nothing more than Town deserved, but the home side had to remain alert, with Butler blocking from Byfield, then doing just enough to deny Chris Taylor as the dangerous left winger this time broke away down the right flank.
