Match report: Huddersfield Town 2 - 1 Swindon Town

A DESERVED three points – but two disappointments.

Firstly that Town failed to make the most of a succession of chances created by in-form wingers Gary Roberts and Danny Cadamarteri.

And secondly, that they conceded in stoppage time to 10-man opposition for the second week running.

It wasn’t as costly as at Northampton, where Town lost out on two points.

But had Swindon’s goal, scored 70 seconds into time added on by Simon Cox, come a few minutes earlier, it would have made the finale pretty tense.

The warning signs were there, because Danny Wilson’s side, who had Congolese centre-back Patrick Kanyuka sent off in the 65th minute for pulling back Jim Goodwin as he ran onto Keigan Parker’s pass, had come close twice in the previous 12 minutes.

First Blair Sturrock flicked Anthony McNamee’s cross from the left against Alex Smithies’ right-hand upright before Craig Easton sent the rebound over with the goal gaping.

Then Cox inexplicably blocked Lee Peacock’s powerful goalbound effort from McNamee’s corner.

Cox’s 17th goal of the season arrived when he drove in off the same post Sturrock had earlier hit following another flag kick from McNamee.
