Match report: Huddersfield Town 2 - 1 Swindon Town

Then Butler’s header was tipped away for a corner before Town were denied a penalty on 26 minutes, when Parker tumbled under the combined challenge of Jon-Paul McGovern and Amankwaah.

Jevons stung Brezovan’s fingers with a well-struck 36th-minute shot, then had a 42nd-minute attempt blocked by Kanyuka.

And Town picked up where they left off after the break with Parker’s header being collected by the keeper before Collins finally found a way through, playing a one-two with Parker before drilling the ball home off Brezovan’s right-hand post.

Busy Roberts looked on in frustration as his 56th-minute shot was held, and Town had a let-off when Jack Smith’s free-kick took a deflection off Cox and flew just wide with Smithies helpless.

Even without Kanyuka’s straight red card, Butler’s goal, nodded in from a lovely Cadamarteri cross, should have made the game safe.

And had Jevons’ free-kick (after the sending off) and his sidefooted 72nd-minute volley from another Cadamarteri cross gone in rather than been saved, it surely would have been.

Roberts was denied what would have been a deserved 75th-minute goal when referee Phil Gibbs ruled he had fouled Amankwaah before shooting home, but from then on, too much of the action was at the other end.

Reports also suggest that Town have been rebuffed in a £500,000 bid for a new striker. Click here for more details.
