Match report: Leicester City 4 - 2 Huddersfield Town
Jan 26 2009 by Dougie Thomson, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
IT ALL ended in tears for Town, and red-carded Gary Roberts in particular, but there were some crumbs of comfort.
Lee Clark’s side twice had their magnificent 3,202-strong travelling battalion of fans on their feet, as goals from Phil Jevons and Keigan Parker early in each half gave them a lead.
And for long spells of an action-packed match, Town more than matched the runaway League I leaders.
But they paid a high price for lapses in concentration as Nigel Pearson’s powerful side finally closed the game out with three goals in 14 minutes.
The sending off of in-form winger Roberts rubbed salt into the wounds.
It was easy to understand the former Ipswich man’s frustration as he kicked the ball away in the 88th minute, bringing a yellow card – his fifth of the campaign – from Northamptonshire referee Richard Beeby.
But there was no excuse for subsequently swearing at the official, who swiftly produced his red card, condemning Roberts to a possible three-match ban (two for the red and one for a fifth yellow).
