Match report: Leicester City 4 - 2 Huddersfield Town

Town were today seeking clarification, but were certain in the knowledge that the 24-year-old will be sidelined when they try to bounce back from this setback down at Yeovil tomorrow.

Clark fielded the same side for the fifth successive match on Saturday – and Town got off to a flying start.

With ex-Leicester man Danny Cadamarteri causing all kinds of problems down the right, Roberts had already put a free header wide before Jevons struck in only the sixth minute.

Roberts sent in a corner, Nathan Clarke looped a header into the danger zone, and Jevons netted his second of the season from 10 yards with a perfectly-executed overhead kick.

Leicester hit back within five minutes – Michael Morrison flicking home Swiss defender Bruno Berner’s low ball into the box – and came close to a second in the 16th minute when Matty Fryatt’s ball across the face of goal just evaded on-loan Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley.

But Town regrouped well, and Parker’s 26th-minute volley was deflected wide before Robbie Williams twice tested Liverpool loan keeper David Martin with long-range shots.

Michael Collins also came close with a lofted effort, and while keeper Alex Smithies had to deal with a shot and header from Steve Howard and a low drive by Lloyd Dyer, Town deserved to be on level terms at half-time.

Six minutes into the second half, they were ahead again as Parker, teed up by Clarke and Jevons, chalked up his second of the campaign with a curled shot over Martin and into the stopper’s top left-hand corner.

Home fans in a 21,311 crowd were silenced again and Leicester looked stunned, but an out-of-the-blue equaliser in the 59th minute changed the complexion of the contest.

Joe Mattock hammered in a free-kick from halfway and Steve Howard was allowed to head the ball across the area for Berner to nod in.

The muscular Howard had been well handled previously, but this was to be the first of several key touches as Leicester showed their prowess.
