Match report: Yeovil Town 1 - 0 Huddersfield Town
Jan 28 2009 by Mel Booth, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
TOWN desperately need a pick-me-up at home to Peterborough on Saturday after sliding to their second defeat on the road in four days.
Having failed to seriously trouble Smithies previously, Yeovil took the lead 30 seconds into first-half stoppage time when MacDonald drilled home Schofield’s cross from the right through a ruck of players.
Prijovic missed a great chance to double Yeovil’s lead two minutes into the second half. Neat footwork from Rodgers set up a chance on the edge of the six-yard box but the Serbian’s angled shot from the right went across the face of goal and wide.
Town upped the tempo for a spell and Jevons headed just wide from Pilkington’s free-kick before Cadamarteri had Wagenaar scrambling to deal with a teasing 52nd minute cross.
Ainsworth was introduced as a 54th-minute replacement for Keigan Parker and the new boy, playing on the right wing, with Cadamarteri moving up front, came agonisingly close to a leveller within two minutes, heading Pilkington’s cross onto the roof of the net.
Soon after, Clarke’s glancing header from Pilkington’s free-kick went just wide. Yeovil substitute Paul Warne’s 71st-minute cross set up Andrew Welsh, whose close-range header was brilliantly saved by Smithies.
Town’s late push brought chances for Jevons and Cadamarteri, but to no avail.
