Huddersfield Town report: Scunthorpe 1 Town 2

Things got worse for the home side four minutes later when Town levelled.

Cadamarteri played a ball in from the left to Collins whose shot was parried by Murphy, but straight into the path of Tom Clarke who netted from close range for his first goal of the season.

The game became ragged for a spell, although Lansbury managed to test Smithies after a neat one-two with Paul Hayes.

Then Collins had great chance to put Town ahead on the stroke of half-time but shot wide from Cadamarteri’s cross.

United’s Grant McCann had the first chance of the second half, shooting narrowly wide, but Town had the majority of possession and deservedly went ahead in the 54th minute when Roberts took a pass from Williams and played a one-two with Collins before sliding the ball home.

Cadamarteri had a good opportunity to increase the lead in the 66th minute when he raced on to a Collins pass but United keeper Murphy pushed his shot away for a corner, from which Collins turned a shot wide.

A lovely turn by Cadamarteri set up another chance in the 80th minute, but the former Stockport man fired wide.

Town had a stoppage time escape when Sam Togwell’s low drive flew only inches wide.
