THE Galpharm rocked to the Pawel Abbott late show last night!
Only two minutes remained when Abbott glanced in a perfect cross from substitute Andy Holdsworth to send over 10,500 blue and white faithful wild with delight.
It was a massive relief for Peter Jackson, his battling team and the fans because they'd seemed destined for frustration once more as 10-man City doggedly held on.
So often Town have been on the wrong end of late strikes - indeed City equalised twice in the dying seconds against them last season - but this time the roles were reversed and how sweet it was.
Not only did Town extend their unbeaten home run in 2005 with a victory and a clean sheet, but they produced some quality attacking football and could have had a flood of goals with a bit more good luck and some cooler finishing.
Abbott himself might have had six, but at least he grabbed the one that mattered when the visitors thought they'd eked out a draw despite the 50th-minute sending-off of Luke Wilkshire.
Booked in the 38th minute for a late challenge on the excellent Chris Brandon, Wilkshire appeared to leave his foot in high as Mark Hudson made a clearance and Birmingham referee Andy Hall was on the spot to show a second yellow card.
Town - desperately unlucky not to be clear after a fine first-half display - suddenly found themselves trying to unhinge two solid banks of four.
