At the back, the Clarke brothers again did splendidly - Nathan hardly putting a foot wrong and Tom making some fine blocks and clearances - while Danny Adams was the epitome of solidity in the left-back slot.
Andy Holdsworth also ploughed through some strong tackles and the response of the midfield was exactly what Jackson and the fans wanted.
Worthington led by example in the centre - revelling in the high intensity and bruising challenges - and he thoroughly deserved his first goal since that well-remembered Galpharm winner against Sheffield Wednesday.
Young Michael Collins was also a big influence with his ball-winning and his sensible passing, and he certainly wasn't frightened to show off some of his skills either.
Brandon, lifted his his early goal, was a paragon of industry on the right and, while the service to Abbott and Gary Taylor-Fletcher was far from great, Town were always a threat on the counter attack.
Rachubka turned away an early shot from Tim Ryan and later watched Steve Foster head over from close range, but his best work was left for the second half and stops from Mulligan, McIndoe and Hughes.
Taylor-Fletcher hit the bar with a 79th-minute header and Abbott tried to chip his way into the record books in stoppage time with a seventh of the season, but by then the points were in the bag in any case.
It's now five wins and a draw in six matches since that defeat at Forest on opening day.
Bring on Scunthorpe on Friday is the confident cry!
