Ladies in next round

TOWN Ladies showed top stamina to make the second qualifying round of the FA Women's Cup.

They beat Bolton 6-2 after extra time, avenging a Cup defeat two years ago.

The home side dominated throughout at Beck Lane, with Leah Moorhouse and Jade Robshaw outstanding.

Robshaw linked well with Sarah Kennerdale, who opened the scoring with a well-placed low shot.

Bolton drew level against the run of play before half-time.

But it looked as though Town had clinched it when 15-year-old Rachael Petyt crossed for Robshaw to fire into the roof of the net with only five minutes left.

However deep into time added on, Bolton levelled from a free-kick.

Substitutes Michaela Jessop and another 15-year-old, Becky Catling, decided the outcome.

Firstly, Catling netted from 12 yards, then Jessop cut in the from the left to score.

Catling headed home a Moorhouse corner, then Robshaw completed the home scoring spree.

Town host Darwen in the second qualifying round on Sunday, September 25.
