Mirfin's ball-drill setback

TALENTED Town defender David Mirfin is facing another week on the sidelines.

The 20-year-old had been making good progress recovering from the hamstring injury he suffered in the second match of the season against Bristol City.

But the powerful centre-back has suffered a setback in training which means he must once again rest and undergo treatment.

Club physio Lee Martin revealed: "Mirf's programme was going well with a return to full training looking earlier than expected.

"Unfortunately, during a simple ball drill, he pulled up sharply with a pain in his hamstring."

An ultrasound scan revealed no damage, just slight swelling.

"That is good news as we will lose him only for a week of rehabilitation," added Martin.

"He will resume his running rehabilitation next week which we hope will see him return to training the following week."

Mirfin was carried off on a stretcher early in the second half of Town's win against The Robins on August 9, when Andy Holdsworth replaced him as substitute.

Meanwhile, Town have announced the Panasonic Stand will be all ticket for the home game against Bournemouth on Saturday, October 1, because of a schools' promotion.

Tickets for the trip to Colchester on Saturday, September 24, will be available until noon the previous day.

Seats are £17 for adults and £10 for Over 60s and Under 16s.

Terrace tickets are priced £14 for adults and £8 for Over 60s, Under 16s and students.

All matchday prices are £2 extra. Disabled supporters should contact Colchester direct on 0845 3302975.
