Abbott sights record

PAWEL ABBOTT has twin targets as he bids to gun down Tranmere at the Galpharm Stadium tonight (7.45).

The nine-goal leading marksman is determined to maintain his record of having scored in every Galpharm game this season.

And if Abbott goes to double figures for the campaign then Town will equal the club record of netting in 21 successive League games which has stood since 1931-32.

Manager Peter Jackson seems certain to name an unchanged starting line-up tonight and is eager for a big crowd to cheer Town to the top of the table against Delroy Facey and Co.

"Our fans have been truly magnificent and we want the atmosphere to be red hot tonight," said Jackson, who has midfielder Lee Fowler facing a scan and possible cartilage surgery following a knock in training.

"The lads have really been impressed by our support at Blackburn and Colchester and now we want to make the most of home advantage."

Jackson is well aware that Tranmere have won on their last two visits to the Galpharm and wants to put the record straight against Brian Little's line-up, which includes Facey and Alex Bruce, who was sent off in Sheffield Wednesday colours here last season.

"Delroy Facey and Chris Greenacre are a threat and it still hurts that Tranmere took six points off us last season, but if we play anything like we can then we'll win, especially with the fans right behind us," added Jackson.

"With the goals, we've got Pav, Boothy and Fletch all going well and it's nice to have options like that."

Tranmere's Danny Harrison (broken nose) faces a late test.
