Bumper turnout a must!

MANAGER Peter Jackson admits he's "baffled" why fans aren't flocking to Town and has called for a bumper turnout against Bournemouth on Saturday (3.00).

Jackson was dismayed only 10,640 watched last night's 1-0 win against Tranmere - 539 of those from the Wirral.

"The attendance was the only `down' side of the night," said Jackson, whose side won with an 87th-minute strike from Danny Schofield.

"With the attacking brand of football we are playing, our position in the table and with us fielding the best young team this club has produced in years, I'm baffled why more people don't come.

"I'm not having a go at the ones who were here because they were brilliant, but it would be great if those who are staying away would come down and back the lads on Saturday.

"When we were in the division below this we averaged around 12,500 and now it's about 11,000.

"We are going great guns, winning well and I just don't understand why some fans aren't turning out to support us."

Town earned only a third clean sheet of the season but equalled an 83-year club record of scoring in 21 successive Football League matches.

"It's great and we were well worth the win and an excellent three points," added the manager.
