Ask Jacko: Your Questions Answered

CONGRATULATIONS on the season so far. Entertainment and results, it doesn't get much better. Given how well Luton are doing now, do you think we are capable of stepping straight up to the Championship? Kev, e-mail

Jacko says: THE important thing first is to climb out of this division.

Once we are up in the Championship, then we can start assessing exactly what we need to do.

Sheffield Wednesday have struggled after winning the play-offs and Hull seem to be finding it tough going as well in the higher league.

Luton have, as you rightly say, pushed on this term and they've done it without bringing in too many players over the summer.

Considering we took four points off them last season that's encouraging, although the most important thing for us right now is simply to concentrate on getting up.

I think we have put a good platform in place.

We have got stronger by the year since I came back to the club and we've enjoyed a very good start to the season.

There is still a really long way to go, so no-one can afford to get carried away, but the indications are that we are going to have a good season.

The test now is to keep our form going, week in and week out and, if we suffer a blip, making sure we respond in the right way.

We've done that so far and we are playing some good football as well.

ADNAN AHMED has been playing in the Reserves but isn't yet figuring at first team level. Is he physically okay and when will he be back to 100% to challenge for the senior side? Bob, London

Jacko says: EVERYONE knows how well Adnan did last season and we all wanted him to progress this time in a big way - no-one more than Adnan himself.

Unfortunately, since we came back for pre-season, he has been suffering from tendonitis in a knee.

I still believe he needs a couple more games in the Reserves because he definitely isn't firing on all cylinders at this present time.

His recovery has gone more slowly than any of us would have wanted and, while he continues to work hard in the second team, he is still a way off regaining his place in League I.

When you miss pre-season it does set you back, but Adnan is a fit lad and he will return. I just don't know when that will be.
