Incentive in Macca loan

STRIKER John McAliskey has joined Torquay United on a month's loan to get him back into League football.

The 21-year-old trained with Leroy Rosenior's struggling League II squad for the first time today and will make his debut at Cheltenham tomorrow.

Galpharm manager Peter Jackson explained: "I circulated Macca's name with a view to getting him a loan and some first-team football.

"Torquay were immediately interested because they are struggling a bit and feel he can give them a boost."

Golcar-based McAliskey has not figured at first-team level for Town this season.

"It will be great experience for Macca," added Jackson.

"I believe it will open his eyes a bit and make him realise, having come through the ranks, what a good club he plays for."
