Beaten Hughes cries foul

BLACKBURN boss Mark Hughes said Town played well, but neither of Luke Beckett’s goals should have stood.

He claimed Danny Cadamarteri fouled Christopher Samba in the build-up to the first and Matt Young pushed Morten Gamst Pedersen before crossing for the second.

“I’m not particularly happy with the goals we conceded, or the referee’s decisions, or lack of them, prior to them going in,” said Hughes, pictured, after a game officiated by West Yorshire’s Mark Haywood.

“I thought there were clear fouls in both cases.”

Hughes, who gave new Paraguayan international arrival Roque Santa Cruz a tough pre-match work-out on the Galpharm pitch but decided against playing him, added: “It was a great result for Huddersfield because they beat a Premier League side, and fair play to them. They caused us a few problems.

“We don’t enjoy being beaten in any match, but the result wasn’t a great concern to me.”
