Let’s be up for it!

TOWN were “up for it” said the Birmingham manager.

It was a memorable Town win. Town fans enjoyed it so much that at the final whistle 99.9% rose to their feet and applauded until the very last player had left the pitch.

After weeks of eager anticipation (and apprehension) we’d witnessed inspired team selection, fully committed players, animated shouting of instructions and encouragement from the dugout, rousing drumming, chanting and singing (well done all of you), the whole stadium ‘rocking’.

All helped by the constant threat posed by City’s attacks and the multi-decibels from their supporters.

And the high tempo was maintained by everyone through virtually the whole match.

It showed how much the FA Cup means to clubs like Town. It also gave indication of what life in the Championship could be like, with so much more excitement and many bigger pay days!

It also showed that Town’s former Academy players, including an 18-year-old making a magnificent full debut, were more than a match for Premiership players.

Town’s only remaining assets are the players. In the Championship their value would soar. It is essential that Town reach the Championship very quickly to stop the steady decline.

So, directors, coaches, players, staff and supporters, let’s all put in as much effort and enthusiasm for Saturday’s game against Gillingham as we did last Saturday.

See you all at the Galpharm – let’s all be “up for it”.
