Go on Dan, make it a double!

TOWN are celebrating having two nominations in the Football League Awards.

The Galpharm club have been chosen as one of four contenders for Family Club of the Year in Coca-Cola League I.

And their teenage striker Daniel Broadbent – who made his senior debut as a substitute at Tranmere in October – is among those contesting the top Apprentice Award.

To take the Family Club prize at the League awards, which incorporate magazine FourFourTwo’s Top 50 Football League Players, Town will have to beat off competition from their divisional rivals Northampton, Tranmere and Yeovil (who they visit a week tomorrow).

Being on the shortlist is a terrific achievement in a hotly-contest category of the awards, for which winners will be announced at the London Hilton, Park Lane, on Sunday, March 2.

Broadbent (right) is up against Alex Dyer from Northampton Town and Thomas Schwarz of Walsall to top the poll in the Apprentice section.

Town, of course, were winners when the League Awards were first staged two years ago – Academy manager Gerry Murphy taking the major honour for his services to the game.

The League’s commercial director Steward Thomson said: “The new Family Club of the Year award in each division will reward clubs delivering a truly outstanding family experience through their pricing, customer service and matchday activity.”
