IT’S been well documented that both Town and Oldham beat Premier League sides to make the fourth round of the FA Cup.
But what happened before the victories over Birmingham and Everton respectively?
While Town came from two down to win 3-2 at Accrington Stanley with goals by Malvin Kamara (2) and Luke Beckett in the first round, the Latics needed two attempts to get rid of Doncaster.
After going two up through Neal Trotman and Craig Davies at Boundary Park, they were pinned back by a late double from James Hayter.
It was Rovers who went ahead in the replay at the Keepmoat, but John Sheridan’s side stormed back to win with goals by Neil Kilkenny and Gary McDonald.
Lee Hughes, who is suspended tomorrow, was the goal hero as Oldham beat Crewe 1-0 in their second-round showdown at Boundary Park.
Town had a straightforward passage against Grimsby at the Galpharm, where Phil Jevons (2) and Beckett sealed a 3-0 win.
Beckett and Chris Brandon, who like Hughes, is banned tomorrow, got the goals in Town’s 2-1 win over Birmingham while McDonald’s screamer sealed Oldham’s 1-0 win at Everton.
