MATT GLENNON says Town must “seriously kick-on” from the FA Cup win to avoid a relegation battle in League I.
The 29-year-old produced two outstanding saves to help preserve a clean sheet at Boundary Park and he’s looking for another when Bournemouth visit the Galpharm tomorrow.
“We could be in serious trouble if we don’t kick on from this and it’s doing my head in,” he said.
“This team should not be down there in the table, but we are and we’ve got to put five or six games together and finish the season well.
“Bring on Bournemouth and lets make a start by putting three points on the board, because we all worked really hard to get the win at Oldham and played like we should be doing every week and in every game.”
Glennon’s one-handed save from Deane Smalley’s header was one of the highlights on Saturday.
And he admitted: “It felt good. I work hard on things like that in training with our goalkeeping coach, John Vaughan, and it’s nice when it pays off in a game.
“It was good to contribute to a clean sheet and, other than a couple of clear-cut chances, I didn’t really have a lot to do because they lads played so well in front of me.
“Everyone was doing their bit in every department and I thought Robert Page was unbelievable and Nathan Clarke fantastic.
“That’s why it’s so frustrating that we haven’t been able to string a run of results together in the league, but we’ve now got to make the most of this run in the cup and, hopefully, keep it going as long as we can.”
