It's time to treble up!

LUKE BECKETT and Andy Booth are set to lead the line again tomorrow as Andy Ritchie asks his players to recreate the spirit of the FA Cup when they return to Oldham.

While Ritchie has been searching for a striker, yesterday’s loan deadline passed without any comings or goings at the Galpharm.

And with Phil Jevons, Danny Cadamarteri and now Danny Broadbent (ankle) out injured, that means teenager Lucas Akins is the only out-and-out fit frontman to provide competition for Booth and 12-goal top scorer Beckett.

Back in January, ex-Latic Beckett’s goal sealed a battling 1-0 FA Cup fourth-round win at Boundary Park and a glamour trip to Chelsea.

A third successive League I victory is the latest target, and former Oldham player and manager Ritchie insists such an outcome would maintain Town’s play-off chances.

Consecutive wins at home to Brighton and away to Bristol Rovers have left Town 14th, three places and as many points behind Oldham and eight places and seven points behind a play-off cut-off berth.

“We’ve drawn with Oldham in the league and beaten them in the FA Cup, but this is the most important game of the three,” said Ritchie.

“Whoever loses can kiss goodbye to any play-off chance, and that’s something we want to cling onto.”

Town hope to have Andy Holdsworth, David Mirfin and Joe Skarz available.
