Supporters Club set for special night

IT will be the end of an era for the Town Supporters Club next Saturday.

The impending merger with the Supporters Trust to form the new Supporters Association means it will be the 35th and final old-style Player of the Year dance.

It takes place at the Galpharm (8.00) with tickets £19 apiece (including buffet) or £175 for a table of 10.

Dress code is smart casual (no jeans, trainers or replica shirts) and bookings can be made at the portakabin in the stadium car park before tomorrow’s game or by ringing 07926-165863.

This year’s event has extra poignancy after the recent death of Supporters Club stalwart Edith Hargreaves.

Her name will go alongside late husband John’s on the Hargreaves Memorial Trophy, which was first awarded to Terry Dolan back in 1974.

Last season’s winner was defender David Mirfin.

Other trophies to be presented include the Players’ Player and Examiner Man of the Match award.
