Rest vital ahead of busy spell

TOWN’S players had a final meeting with Stan Ternent today before heading off for their close-season break.

The manager was issuing personal fitness routines and confirming details of pre-season training.

“I’ll be getting their holiday itineraries, finding out where they are and when, and telling them to get a good rest, because they’ve earned it and there’s some hard work ahead,” said Ternent.

“We’ll be getting ready properly, and when the ball moves, we’ll have 46 games to do what we all want to do.”

Town will be working to agree new contracts with retained trio Matt Glennon, James Berrett and Joe Skarz as well as Daniel Codman, who will step up from the academy to become a first-year professional.

They join Luke Beckett, Andy Booth, Danny Broadbent, Danny Cadamarteri, Nathan Clarke, Tom Clarke, Michael Collins, Simon Eastwood, Andy Holdsworth, Phil Jevons, Malvin Kamara, Shane Killock, David Mirfin, Alex Smithies, Robbie Williams and Jon Worthington as the existing squad members.

The next League I campaign starts on Saturday, August 9.
