Huddersfield Town break third-strip jink

JAMES BERRETT might be part of Town’s future – but the orange shirts aren’t.

The players threw them to travelling fans after finally breaking the third-kit jinx at Luton last Saturday.

Town had suffered 4-1 defeats in both its previous outings – at Grimsby in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, then at Southend.

So it was good to get the monkey, as well as the shirts, off their backs with that 1-0 victory over the already-doomed Hatters.

Phil Jevons’ winner meant Town finished 10th in the final table and Luton rock-bottom.

Berrett, pictured challenging centre-back Ed Asafu-Adjaye, deserved credit for playing the opening 64 minutes despite suffering from a bug which caused him to be sick seconds before kick-off.

This week’s retained list confirmed the 19-year-old will still be around next season, when Town will wear a new change kit, set to be unveiled on Thursday, June 19.
