No rush as Luke Beckett ponders Bradford move

LUKE BECKETT has held initial talks with Bradford City – but won’t make any decisions on leaving Town until he returns from a family holiday the week after next.

The club’s top scorer for the last two seasons – he netted 15 goals in 2006-07 and 12 this time around – still has a year of his Galpharm contract to go.

But manager Stan Ternent gave him permission to speak to the League II Bantams after they showed an interest earlier this week.

“We’ve had a chat and they told me what they were looking for and I said what I wanted from a move,” explained the 31-year-old, who cost Town £80,000 from Sheffield United.

“At this stage, if it were to happen, it looks like being a one-year contract, which seems to suit both parties.

“(Bradford boss) Stuart McCall seems keen to give it a real go next season (City finished 10th this time).

“I was impressed with what he had to say and the set-up over there, but we won’t be rushing into anything.

“It seems the clubs have agreed a deal, but Stuart McCall will have further talks with his chairman while I think things over on holiday.”

Meanwhile Chesterfield are reported to be showing an interest in Chris Brandon, who was released by Town this week.
