Huddersfield Town new boy Flynn: Club is going places

MICHAEL FLYNN today set sights on winning promotion and told Town’s fans: “The management here are real winners!”

The 27-year-old ex-Blackpool midfielder completed his medical yesterday and signed a two-year deal at the Galpharm Stadium to take the vacant No10 shirt.

Flynn – who went on MK Dons’ pre-season tour to Portugal – joined the full squad for the first time today and is hoping to make his Town bow in this weekend’s Hartlepool Centenary Tournament.

“The chance to play for Stan Ternent and Ronnie Jepson again was one I just couldn’t turn down,” said Flynn, who was twice a promotion winner with Wigan.

“Stan took me to Gillingham and Ronnie later made me captain and they are both winners, which is what I really like about them.

“They have the same mentality as me – anything less than victory is hard for them to take – and I really enjoyed playing for them. If you give them 100% that’s exactly what you’ll get back from them. If you don’t, they’ll soon let you know about it.”

After one year with Blackpool, Chorley-based Flynn had the option of another year but jumped at the chance of joining Town.

“With the centenary and 16,000 season-ticket holders there’s a real buzz about the place and I’m excited about playing here,” he explained.

“This is a big club, one which is going places and I’ve come here to play a full part.

“I’ve come here to play regularly. I don’t want to be just sitting around picking up a pay cheque, being a bit-part player – that drives me mad. I want to get stuck in and win us promotion this season, just like the management and the fans.”
