Huddersfield Town boss Stan says spirit was sound

TOWN’S Carling Cup interest might be over, but boss Stan Ternent believes a repeat of the spirit and endeavour shown against Sheffield United will bring reward back in League I.
Late goals by Darius Henderson (82nd minute) and Kyle Naughton (84th) did for Town, who had led through Michael Flynn’s first goal for the club in the 34th minute.
While frustrated by a second home defeat in five days (after MK Dons’ 3-1 win), Ternent remained upbeat after a second-round tie seen by 15,189.
“I thought we performed extremely well and had a really good go,” said the manager, who has lost out to League I rivals Peterborough United in his bid to sign Dagenham and Redbridge winger Dominic Green.
“If I have a criticism, it’s that we weren’t clinical enough in front of goal. We need to get a bit more quality on the end of chances in order to kill off games.
“But I’m happy with the players, although disappointed for them because they certainly deserved more out of the tie.”
